On the Monday morning of their visit, a select group of Freedom Fliers literally
gave the economy a wake-up call. Oregon Representative Darlene Hooley and State
Treasurer Randall Edwards stood on the platform above the trading floor of the
New York Stock Exchange and, surrounded by fellow Freedom Fliers, rang the opening
bell. Then they worked the floor handing out “Oregon Loves NY stickers”
to the traders.
“Opening the market was a powerful image,” said Mr. Edwards, “symbolizing
our confidence in the marketplace.”
