All the major television and radio stations in Portland assigned reporters to cover the Flight For Freedom trip, along with The Oregonian and several other major newspapers across the nation, including The New York Times and USA Today. Even People magazine did a story about the Freedom Fliers! What started as a simple effort by a handful of caring citizens turned into a major mission of hope and inspiration that had global implications and that garnered the attention of media as far away as Japan, Brazil and Great Britain.
Portland’s Mayor Vera Katz made a number of guest appearances including one on “Live with Regis and Kelly,” and the Freedom Fliers were featured on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and CBS’ “The Early Show.”
